Bachelor’s Program in Informatics

Overview

Since its inception in 1996, Informatics UNPAR has produced graduates working in various fields, such as: as software developers in various e-commerce companies, software and information system developer for banks, retails, industries, and government-owned companies. Some other became technopreneur. The academic-minded ones continued their study master or doctorate degree within Indonesia or abroad, like in The Netherlands, Singapore, England, Canada and Australia. Bachelor Degree of Informatics has been accredited EXCELLENT by the LAMINFOKOM (the national accreditation institution for Informatics higher education programs), based on their decree No. 235/SJ/LAM-INFOKOM/Ak/S/VIII/2025. The accreditation status is valid up to 18th of August 2030.

Every five years, Informatics UNPAR renews its curriculum to match the need of industries and to adjust with rapid development of Information Technologies. The current Curriculum 2023 was constructed based on inputs from the industries, evaluation of preceding curriculum, as well as research outputs of our lecturers in explorating various technologies and state-of-the-art knowledge, as well as while building new systems and techniques.

General purpose of Curriculum 2023 is to produce graduates who holds honorable basic values and characters, having great competencies in informatics as well as in the soft skill aspects. For the graduates to stay relevant and perform in the aforementioned jobs, being successful technopreneurs or pursuing further studies, several principals have been used in building the curriculum:

1. Strong basic informatics knowledge;
2. Basic programming with strong object-oriented, structured and hybrid approach;
3. Multiplatform programming (for web-based, mobile, non-web environment, as well as distributed system for big data);
4. Specializations and electives in several tracks to facilitate choosing the right track with respect to students’ interest and talent, as well as in preparing graduates to work in specific fields that interest him/her;
5. Chances of internship, be it by internship in external companies or involvement in real projects in courses;
6. Improvement of skill in doing researches in courses;
7. Improvement of students softskill, including writing, presentation and teamwork skill;
8. Character development based on  Spiritual dan Nilai Dasar UNPAR (SINDU / basic values and spirit of UNPAR)

Based on the principals mentioned above, every students of Informatics UNPAR are required to undergo the group of basic knowledge courses (principal 1), programming (principal 2), programming in specific platform (principal 3) and character development (principal 7 and 8).

Based on data, data scientist profession is being and will be greatly needed in the future. Moreover, Artificial Intelligence experts are also increasingly being needed, considering the rapid advancement in this field. To realize principal 4, 5 and 6, as well as to answer this challenge, Informatics UNPAR offer three programs, i.e. Computing Science, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Specialization Program

Computing Science

In this specialization, students can specialize in one or more informatics field, such as cyber security and networks, game development, web development and information system.

Data Science

This specialization focuses in looking for valuable information by data analysis. Data scientist has been named the sexiest profession in the 21st century and being the 1st, out of 50 best profession in the United States. Under this specialization, the following topics are studied: big data, cloud computing technology, data mining with Python, statistics with R and business intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence

AI has currently being part of our daily life. Under this specialization, students can join the bandwagon by building their own AI. Materials studied in this specialization are: artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and AI for games.
