Vision & Mission

Vision

Becoming an outstanding academic community in Informatics, who possess creative and innovative abilities, trustable, as well as becoming a lifelong leaners, to develop local potentials on international fields for advancement of human dignity.

Explanation of some terms mentioned in the vision statement:

  1. Informatics is understood as a field that studies problem solving by using techniques in computation and information technology.
  2. Local potential is strength, exceptional ability, indigenous uniqueness that is contained in Indonesia in general, and more specially West Java.
  3. International field means the intended academic community is a community that produce human capital with broad knowledge, competitive, and have an active role in knowledge development, not only nationally but also internationally.
  4. Human dignity is a fundamental thing that is owned by mankind in appreciating and respecting human holistically, which comprises of feel, rational, body and peace (rasa, rasio, raga, dan rukun). A dignified human is a human who involves the following four things in their actions:
    • Conscience: Conscience means that the person respects to the values of honesty, fairness, goodwill, openness, sense of belonging, humility, unconditional, perseverance, loyalty, love to others, sacrifice, dedication and preference to the forgotten ones.
    • Intellectuality: Intellectuality means a person is able to make use of deductive thinking method (from general to specific) and inductive (from specific to general) dialectically, as well as linking past and current facts with the potential of the future, to look for, find, and communicate truth.
    • Physical fluency: Physical fluency means a person performs well in using his bodily abilities to produce output from his/her feel and intellectual, in peace with others to contribute to the society.
    • Peace among human beings: means that mankind needs to keep peace by cooperation network, togetherness, team work, dialogue, and inclusivism.
Mission

Mission of Informatics Program is an implementation of the process of education, research, and community service that is performed to achieve the vision of Informatics that is derived from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan vision.

The mission of Informatics is with respect to moral values, ethics, and high academic standard performing.

  1. The learning process in the field of informatics, especially in the field of computing and data science, to produce graduates with high academic competence, creative and innovative abilities, effective communication skills, high integrity, and lifelong learners, using the latest curriculum.
  2. Research in the field of informatics, especially in the field of computing and data science, to support high-quality learning processes and contribute to the development of knowledge for the national and international community by seeking to explore local potential.
  3. Community service, especially in the field of computing and data science, by contributing to the advancement of society, through increasing knowledge and skills in the field of informatics, and strengthening organizations by utilizing information technology.
Goal

Informatics Program goals includes all aspects in Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Education, Research, Community Service), such as follows.

  1. To produce graduates who master the basic concepts of informatics and other related fields, are able to analyze problems, design and implement solutions, develop medium- to large-scale software, explore information technology as needed, have strong communication skills, work in teams, and possess high professional ethics.
  2. Producing research in the field of informatics, particularly in the fields of Computational Theory, Distributed Systems, Information Systems, and Data Science, by paying attention to and developing local excellence at the international level, and producing publications in reputable national and international research journals.
  3. Participate in problem solving for community through relevant, solution-oriented, and creative community service activities in Indonesia.
Objective

Based on goals listed above, Informatics Program aims to reach:

  • Quality of graduates improvement.
  • Quality and quantity of research and community service improvement.
  • Reputation of Informatics Program at the international level.
  • Improvement of governance quality and the process of organizing higher education, referring to the good traditions of UNPAR in general, Faculty of Science, and Department of Informatics in particular, and UNPAR’s internal quality assurance system.
